2010年4月26日，美国著名牙华盛顿大学牙院长Martha J. Somerman 教授来访问。周学东院长对Martha J. Somerman 教授的来访表示热烈欢迎。双方在联合科研、人才培养以及教育等方面加强合作进行了深入的讨论，双方签订了合作协议。会后在院党委书记吴亚菲教授陪同下，Martha J. Somerman 教授参观了口腔疾病研究国家重点实验室、口腔教学实验室、中国口腔医学博物馆和华西口腔医院。全体院领导参加了会见。
